Mera Peak Climbing- Mera peak information - Mera peak climbing information
Mera peak 6476m is one of the highest trekking peak in Nepal. Mera peak was first climbed by Late Jimmy Roberts groups 20th may 1953.Mera Peak rises to the South of Everest and dominates the beautiful and remote valleys of Hinku and Hongu. Mera Peak is enough to be seriously challenging but does not require serious mountaineering skills being one of the least demanding peaks of this altitude. The ascent of the Mera peak is technically straightforward, however, the heavy snow and the maze of crevasses can make the way longer to the summit. Besides the charming of climbing Mera Peak , the trek to its base camp from Lukla is rewarding for experiencing little-visited and yet un-spoilt region of Nepal with densely forested hill sides. Mera Peak trek and climbing servers a gate way for high altitude trekking to go over Amphulaptcha Pass or Mingbo La and also for climbing on Baruntse, Chamlang and other Himalayas climbing.
Approximately 35 minutes f flight from Kathmandu to Lukla , Mera peak climbing activities begins in Lukla with HJT professional guide , through fascinating Sherpa Villages to Mera Base Camp (5,099m/16,729ft) situated at the base of an immense glacier leading to the Mera La Pass. As the ascent continues up to summit our special basic ice climbing course at Khare is instructed by Climbing Sherpa to ensure all of you have necessary climbing skills and confidence to summit the top. After Khare two more High Base Camps are set up at 5,385m/17,667ft (a little below Mera La) and a higher one at 5,750m/18,865ft from where the summit ascent can be attempted. Mera has two distinct summits, the main one being the Northern Summit (6,476m/21,247ft), which is reached by skirting the Central Summit (6,461m/21,198ft) and following a classic snow ridge to the top. Even though the climb is technically straightforward, there are some crevasses to maneuver and the route can be long and demanding after a fresh snowfall. The climb from Mera La to the Summit is gradual with outstanding mountain panoramas of the Eastern Nepal Himalayas always in sight. The peaks visible include Mt.
